The Buzuluk Pine Forest (Buzuluksky Bor National Park) is located on the border of the Samara and Orenburg regions, 15 kilometres north from the town of Buzuluk in the Borovka river basin. The age of pinery is 6-7 thousand years, pure pine forests formed about 3-4 thousand years ago. They grow on the sands that have thickness of up to 90 meters. The attraction of the pinery is two pine trees that are older than 300 years. These pine trees have the height of up to 30 meters and a five feet diameter. The Buzuluk pine is one of the most thoroughly studied forests. Since 1903 here is located a experimental forestry. Part of the Buzuluk pine wood has the status of a very valuable forest. In January 2008, pinery received the status of a Federal National Park. Besides pinery, the floodplain of the river Borovka is very picturesque, especially the right bank, where oxbow lakes and streams with beaver dams are distributed. On the territory of pinery in the villages Koltubanovskoe and Partisan recreation hotels are functioning.
