The Valley of Geysers in the Kamchatka is called a Geyser river canyon with a large number of thermal springs and geysers. Jets of boiling water having different power periodically burst to the surface from the fiery bowels of the volcano Kikhpinych. There are more than 20 geysers there, it is the largest geysers cluster in Eurasia. The valley was opened by reserve staff in 1941. They were investigating the question why the water in some rivers is warmer than the other, and finally came to a geyser. Now this geyser is called "The Firstborn", it throws a jet of boiling water from the boulders directly into the river. "Giant" erupts up to a height of a nine-floor house thirty tons of water per minute, "Triple" gushes out of three holes, "Large" creates a unique water cascade from the enormous Griffin-shell. Due to the inaccessibility and the nature reserve status, the Valley is visited only by a few thousand people per year. The valley of geysers is part of the Kronotsky state nature reserve, which is included in the UNESCO world natural heritage site in the category "Volcanoes of Kamchatka". The valley of geysers was severely damaged by a landslide June 3, 2007. About half of the geysers were littered with debris avalanche and flooded by dammed lake. However, the Valley is alive and still is of great interest to scientists and tourists. In 2008, according to the results of the popular vote the Valley of geysers was included in the list of the Seven Wonders of Russia.
