Scientists are still arguing about the origins of Pleshcheyevo lake, which is located on the territory of modern Yaroslavl region. There is a version that it appeared on the site of glacial depressions, deepened by ancient rivers. According to another hypothesis, Pleshcheyevo is a karst lake, formed as a result of limestone bedrock collapse. The age of the lake is about 30 thousand years. The water level is changing greatly, the huge boulder that sunk in 1778 during its transport on ice, now lies on the shore. People inhabited the lake from Neolithic times. Finno-Ugric tribes have also left their footprints in the history of the reservoir, an object of their pagan worship, a "Blue Stone" - a huge boulder weighing 12 tons, still lies on the banks of the lake. At the end of XVII century Russian Tsar Peter the First often visited the lake, it was here that he built his Funny fleet - the first Russian fleet. Now the lake was chosen by the fans of kite surfing and, of course, fishermen.
